The Role: Lead, Code, and Inspire
We’re looking for a Mobile Engineering Manager to lead the evolution of an emerging remittance product. This is a hybrid role combining leadership and hands-on coding. You’ll spend about 50% of your time writing and reviewing Swift and Kotlin, and the rest coaching your team, shaping processes, and steering delivery.
You’ll guide a tight-knit team of mobile engineers and work cross-functionally with teams across Brightwell to bring real innovation to life. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to make a measurable impact on the lives of people sending and receiving money globally.
Location: Remote (U.S. only) — Quarterly travel to Atlanta required
Eligible States: CO, FL, GA, IL, TX
What You’ll Do
- Lead and Mentor: Guide a team of 4 mobile engineers working with Swift, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and SwiftUI.
- Get Hands-On: Write and review code regularly—this is a 50% coding role.
- Architect and Build: Influence architecture, scalability, and performance decisions for our native SDKs.
- Drive Excellence: Improve engineering practices, tools, and team performance through mentorship and metrics.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with product, design, and operations to deliver world-class features on time.
- Own the Outcome: Identify risks, solve problems, and push for operational excellence at every step.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on development and architectural decisions.
- 2+ years in a management or technical leadership role with distributed teams.
- Strong background in native mobile development (iOS and Android).
- An entrepreneurial mindset—you’re just as comfortable in code as you are coaching or making strategic decisions.
- A proven track record of delivering complex products and elevating team performance.
- Experience with mobile SDKs and performance monitoring in production environments is a plus.
